High Protein Thai Basil Beef Bowl with Mt. Folly Beef

When you need a takeout-style dinner packed with lean protein and ready in under 25 minutes, this High Protein Thai Basil Beef Bowl delivers. Packed with bold, savory, and sweet flavors, this recipe pairs aromatic garlic, crisp red bell peppers, and fresh wilted basil with 100% pasture-raised Mt. Folly ground beef served over a bed of warm white rice.

The key to a truly outstanding beef bowl lies in the quality of your meat. Raised right here in Winchester, Kentucky, Mt. Folly cattle graze freely on biodiverse pastures for their entire lives, without ever seeing a commercial feedlot. This regenerative farming approach yields clean, nutrient-dense ground beef that is naturally higher in omega-3s and offers a rich, robust flavor profile.

Best of all, gathering your ingredients couldn't be easier: Mt. Folly ground beef—along with every single ingredient needed for this recipe—is available now at Kroger stores across Kentucky! You can grab your fresh produce, pantry staples, and local pasture-raised beef all in one quick aisle-to-aisle grocery run.

Ingredients

(All ingredients are easily found at your local Kroger!)

For the Skillet & Protein Base:

  • 1 lb Mt. Folly 100% Pasture-Raised Ground Beef
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1 medium white onion, sliced
  • 2 medium red bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh whole basil leaves

For the Thai Sauce & Serving Base:

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp Sriracha hot chili sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Cooked white rice

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Brown the Mt. Folly Beef

Heat 1 tablespoon of canola oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 lb of Mt. Folly ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks until it is almost completely browned.

Step 2: Sauté the Aromatics & Vegetables

Add the pressed garlic, sliced white onion, and sliced red bell peppers into the skillet with the beef. Cook for 3–4 minutes until the onions are slightly translucent and the peppers are tender-crisp.

Step 3: Sauce & Coat

Whisk together the soy sauce, fish sauce, Sriracha, brown sugar, and salt in a small dish. Pour the sauce into the pan and stir well to coat the beef and vegetables evenly. Remove the skillet from heat.

Step 4: Wilt the Basil & Serve

Toss the fresh whole basil leaves into the warm skillet off the heat, stirring gently until wilted and fragrant. Serve over warm white rice and enjoy!
